Celebration Friday at C N Jenkins Presbyterian's Freedom School
Freedom School Partners' mission is to engage, educate and empower children to succeed in school and in life through quality, educational enrichment programs.
Children Defense Fund's Freedom Schools® summer programs improve academic achievement, reduce dropout rates, and inspire the love of reading.
Freedom School Partners is committed to serving the children who most need and can least afford summer programming.
C. N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church first hosted a Freedom School in the summer of 2011.
During the 2012 Freedom School, members of SMPC provided the supplies and served ice cream at the June 29 Celebration Friday for the Freedom School.
While there, SMPC members were treated to Harambee (Swahili for "let's pull together) which is a series of songs, chants and cheers opening each day at the Freedom School.
