Chancel Choir
Please join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:58 p.m. in the Choir Room as we begin rehearsals for the Fall and Christmas seasons! We welcome those who have a love of music and would like to share in the fellowship and fun of this wonderful group!

Children’s Choir
Registration for Children’s Choir will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the
following times: Grades 3-5: 4:30-5 p.m. Grades 6-8: 5-5:30 p.m.
A parent must be present to provide contact information and to volunteer to help one of the future weeks. Rehearsals will formally begin the following Sunday, September 16, at the same times listed. I am so looking forward to hearing our wonderful young people as we have fun and prepare to sing in church on Sunday, October 28, during the 11 a.m. Worship Service! Parents – mark your calendars!! Our Chancel Choir sings during the 11 am service, and prepares anthems and communion music for 46 weeks out of the year! It is open to anyone, from a junior in high school up to - - - who enjoys the love of music, wonderful fellowship, and leading the congregation in  worship through song! This adult choir also sings at the 9:30 am service throughout the year. We currently have 28 members and would love to welcome you too! Our rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 7 pm, as well as a choir  retreat at the end of August each year.
  

The Adult Handbell Choir plays during the 9:30 am and 11 am services 4 -5 times throughout the year. It is open to those who read music and love to ring! Rehearsals for this group are held on Wednesday evenings at 6:20 pm and usually occur for 8 weeks and then a few weeks off between pieces. Please consider ringing with us!

The Youth Handbell Choir, under the direction of Donna Brown, plays 2 – 3 times throughout the year. It is open to middle and high school youth who can read music. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 5:45 pm in the handbell room of the music suite. We would love to have you join us!

Audrey McConnell, Director of Music, has been at SMPC since April, 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Master of Music in Vocal Performance from West Chester University. An accomplished accompanist, she has performed professionally in the Philadelphia, New York, Charleston, and Charlotte areas.

Audrey also teaches private piano and vocal lessons, and is currently the accompanist for Nova Voce, as well as a singing member of Holiday Singers. She has sung with Oratorio Chamber Singers, Opera Carolina, and, most recently, the Ethos Consortium.

SMPC Organ ~ South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church purchased the Allen Quantum Renaissance organ in 2009 in conjunction with the dedication of our beautiful new Sanctuary. It is a 3-manual, classical organ with 6 schools incorporated into the highly technical computer system: German, American, French, Classical, English, and Renaissance, each lending an authentic sound to the various styles offered during our worship services. It was presented during the dedication recital on November 8th, 2009 by Director of Music, Audrey McConnell. It is truly a glorious instrument!
