As Transitional Pastor, Dr. Sandy Hull is centered on the core callings of ministry: preaching the Gospel with clarity and conviction, teaching in ways that deepen faith, and offering steady, compassionate pastoral care. Sandy will lead the congregation through the important transition work of discerning who God is calling us to be and what God is calling us to do. With warmth, wisdom, and a hopeful spirit, Sandy is guiding SMPC through this important season between senior pastors — bringing with him a calm presence, a collaborative heart, and a pastor’s joy for the people of God.
Sandy received a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College before earning his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary.
Before joining SMPC, Sandy most recently served as Transitional Pastor at Palmetto Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. Earlier in his ministry, he served as senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown, PA (2007–2022); The Community Church of Smoke Rise in Kinnelon, NJ (2001–2006); and Brookdale Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, MO (1985–2000).
Throughout his career, Sandy has also offered leadership at the presbytery level — moderating the Committee on Self-Development of People and the Transitional Leadership Commission in Philadelphia Presbytery, as well as guiding a new church development as part of an administrative commission. Most recently, he served as moderator of the Visioning Task Force of Charleston Atlantic Presbytery.
Sandy and his wife, Belinda, have four grown sons: Charlie (married to Kristi), Tim, Kevin (married to Ariana, with four adorable children), and Ned (married to Alex).
In his free time, Sandy enjoys time with family, reading, music, and exploring the outdoors. He is grateful to be serving among the people of SMPC and looks forward to walking with the congregation in faith, hope, and trust during this chapter of transition.
