Laura Black, ministry associate for children and music, leads our children’s choirs on Sunday evenings as part of our Bible and Music (BAM!) program. Additionally, Laura helps keep our Children and Youth Ministries running smoothly throughout the week.
Laura Black is an accomplished performer in both musical theatre and opera. Originally from Gastonia, North Carolina, Laura relocated to the Charlotte area from New York City, where she was performing and teaching both voice and piano. Laura has had the privilege to perform musical theatre roles and opera roles across the country. She is a passionate and motivated teacher with over a decade of experience working with students of all skill levels.
She holds a Master of Music in Musical Theatre/Opera Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. She is currently on the Voice and Piano Faculty at Charlotte Academy of Music. Laura and her husband, Ned, have two daughters, Maddie and Olivia, and a pup, Felix. She enjoys hanging out with her family, seeing live theater, and gardening.
