April 10, 2024Staff Gathers for a Spectacular Solar Eclipse Viewing
The SMPC staff had a blast watching the solar eclipse together on Monday, April 8. Thank you to Facilities Administrator Steve Stevenson for purchasing the solar eclipse glasses on our behalf! Even Cassie the Church Dog got in on the fun! (We still can’t get “Total Eclipse of the Heart” out of our heads after Monday’s eclipse, but we feel sure our Chancel Choir will take care of that with our lovely hymns and anthem this Sunday!)
SMPC Youth Summer Schedule Magnets Are In!
Know what’s happening with SMPC Youth all summer with these fun magnets! Associate Pastor of Youth and Missions/Outreach Lindsey Odom will distribute magnets with the SMPC Youth summer schedule during April BYG (Big Youth Group) this Sunday, April 14, 5:00-6:30 p.m. in Mecklenburg Hall and during May BYG on Sunday, May 5 (same time, same place). You can also contact Lindsey to grab yours!
Church Installs AEDs in Three Locations
SMPC recently bought Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and installed them in three locations around the church campus in case of an emergency. They are located in the Chapel/Church Office building, in the Sanctuary building at the Connections Center and the Palmer building in Room 100.
AED cabinets are stocked with emergency response and bleeding kits. The AEDs are preloaded with “adult” pads; the AED cabinets also contain a set of “youth” pads and an extra set of “adult” pads.
If you have any questions about the new AEDs, please contact Facilities Administrator Steve Stevenson.
Finding a Quiet Moment After a Busy Holy Week
Our hearts are full after a busy Lenten season and Holy Week! We found a few moments of stillness this week at SMPC.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
