Church Family Moment for Sunday, October 12, 2025
October 6, 2025Our Music Ministry is ‘Created for Community’
The SMPC Chancel Choir spent time together on Saturday, September 27, in their Choir Retreat! The group enjoyed fellowship, a message from Dr. Matt Brown, devotionals, rehearsals and lunch. Their theme this year was “Created for Community” – we are so grateful for our Music Ministry and the way they bring our church community together in song and musical prayer!

SMPC Loves and Supports Haiti
What a blessing it was to have Pastor Actionnel Fleurisma, OFCB Ministries, and Ewo with us for worship on Sunday! If you missed it, we encourage you to watch the worship service or sermon online or listen to our podcast! It was equal parts beautiful and powerful!
We are honored to partner with Ewo to help students in Bayonnais, Haiti, realize their dreams. For years, SMPC has been involved in this important mission work – it began by members and friends traveling to Haiti and learning firsthand how we can help. Since travel to Haiti is no longer an option, the best ways we can help are through monetary donations to OFCB or through sponsoring a student through Ewo.
We are so grateful to all who chose to sponsor a child (or sponsor a second child!) on Sunday! SMPC members Donna Podgorny and Judy Jones, both of whom were instrumental in the organization of Sunday’s service and sponsorship drive, shared pictures and stories of the day’s events. From family members sponsoring a child together to SMPC members who have been to Haiti in person and were catching up with Actionnel, the morning was jam-packed with goodness and light.
This sponsorship drive also marked an important milestone for Ewo.
“Thank you all for putting together an incredible day for us! On behalf of the whole Ewo team, we are so grateful for your partnership and your love for Bayonnais!!” said Ewo Executive Director Melissa Hoffman. “Your community is so special to the history of this mission and we are fortunate to be a small part of it.
“The sponsorship drive for SMPC has helped 15 students find sponsors as of [September 30], and once all are funded, SMPC will have 91 students… making you the largest sponsoring church by 1 student! And Ewo is at 699 students sponsored! SO CLOSE to 700, a new high for us!!”
What a blessing it is to share the light and love of Christ with students in Bayonnais, Haiti! If you are interesting in sponsoring a child, please see SMPC’s sponsorship page.
Faith Mixed With a Bit of Fall Fashion
Add this to the “Great Minds Think Alike” file – SMPC members, including mother-daughter duo on the left and right, Kristen Curtis and Stephanie Becker, with Amy Zagora in the center, color coordinated on Sunday! Olive green – perfect choice for fall! 🙂
