In what ways have you found connection at SMPC?
Without hesitation, I would say that serving has been the bedrock of the relationships I’ve formed at SMPC. Serving has given me the opportunity to build a more diverse and intergenerational church family. Whether it was serving on the Stewardship Committee, leading Children’s Worship, mentoring a confirmand, collecting bag lunches for Roof Above, going to Bayonnais, Haiti, tutoring at Smithfield Elementary, or being a greeter on Sunday morning, I have had the privilege of meeting and working alongside some of the most amazing people. People who inspire me. People with stories to tell. People with a passion for discipleship. People who I may never have crossed paths with otherwise. And my life is so much richer for these relationships.
How has being involved at SMPC helped you grow your faith?
SMPC has provided the safest of spaces to explore my faith and allow it to evolve. One of the most impactful ways has been through Bible study. I love sitting in a space with other believers and exploring the Bible in a deep and thought provoking way. Bible study through the years has given me a gentle nudge to take my faith journey more seriously and expand my vision of God’s kingdom.
