July 22, 2025Over the Rainbow!
A cutie and a beauty! This little ray of sunshine, Harper, Patty and Steve Stevenson’s granddaughter, posed in front of a faint (but still beautiful!) rainbow at the church over the weekend!

SMPC Youth Shine Bright at Montreat Youth Conference
Our high schoolers recently returned from an unforgettable week at the 2025 Montreat Youth Conference, where they were surrounded by light, love and the unmistakable presence of God. The theme, “Light My Path,” reminded us daily that the light we receive from God is not meant to stay on the mountaintop – it is meant to be shared.
From inspiring keynotes to small group discussions, worship, hikes, games and so much more our high schoolers were challenged and encouraged to remember that they are the light of the world, called to build up God’s Kingdom in a world that needs hope.
There were also some extra special moments during the week. We were thrilled to welcome back three of our college freshmen – Collin C., Hunter F., and Hank J. – who spent a day with us at Montreat. What a joy to see them continuing to grow and live into their faith journeys while also returning to the community that helped shape them. We also celebrated Evan W’s 18th birthday!
One particularly meaningful photo from the trip was taken on the very spot where SMPC member Dave J. and a team of congregants served during a mission project to help Montreat recover after Hurricane Helene. We are grateful for their legacy of service and the way it continues to inspire the next generation.
There is so much light and love within our SMPC youth! See some of their pictures in this fun video or in the Google Drive here. Additionally, follow SMPC Youth on Instagram @smpcyouth for more photos! We’ll share the youth’s reflections on Montreat next week!

Troop 119 Awards 100th Eagle!
Congratulations to Aarav R., who became Troop 119’s 100th Eagle Scout, and Shira M, who became Troop 219’s third Eagle Scout. You might remember we celebrated SMPC member George E’s Eagle Scout as the 100th of Troop 119 and 219’s combined Eagle Scouts! What fun to keep the celebrations going! Congratulations to these two young people. We are so happy to be a part of your Scout journey!
