- Our March Year of Justice theme is Women’s History. If you are worshiping with us online, you can click here for ways that you can explore women’s history with a faith lens, including a few read-aloud storybooks and an exploration of the story of Queen Esther.
- Our Lenten word for the day is “Here.” In this part of the story, Jesus tells his disciple John, to take Mary in as his own mother. One of the last things he does is to give them to each other, forming a new family. Listen to a read-aloud of The Invisible String by Patricia Karst. In what ways are we all connected as family?
- It seems funny for us to sing a Christmas song at Easter, but Chris Tomlin’s song Emmanuel God With Us can help us think about this scripture in a new way. Jesus, God with us, who we celebrate coming into the world at Christmas, is now about the depart the world. He knows that they’ll need each other in a new way. At the same time, God never leaves us! Listen and sing along to this song and consider how God is with us.
- Journal, considering the following:
- Read the Hebrews scripture again, noticing that all of the pronouns are plural. God only asks us to do hard things together! How does it help you to know that you are not alone?
- Has anyone ever been “given” to you the way that Jesus gives John and his mother to each other? What was that like? What has it meant?
- What does it mean to be “here?”
