SMPC Youth Say Farewell to Pastor Matt Brown
November 23, 2025In response to the ongoing unrest in Charlotte due to the presence of Border Patrol, we remember that Scripture, specifically Matthew 25:31-46 calls us to welcome the stranger, protect the vulnerable, and love our neighbors as ourselves. We pray for families who are affected by the presence of Border Patrol, as well as those in the community who are working to care for and protect them.
What you can do:
- Please continue to pray—for protection, for courage, and for justice.
- If you feel led to make monetary donations, please consider OurBridge for Kids.
- Use this helpful link to find more resources and places to donate.
- SMPC is holding a donation drive for Urban Promise. Please see this list of needed items. Donation bins will be available at all of the celebration events this weekend (November 22 and November 24) for Matt and Donna, as well as before and after Sunday worship.
- We are looking for 3-4 drivers with large SUVs to load up and drive the items from SMPC to Urban Promise anytime on Monday, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.. Please contact Lindsey Odom if you are able to help.
What we’ve already done:
- Our Missions and Outreach Committee used existing funds to donate items to affected families who are part of Smithfield Elementary early this week.
- We sent three representatives to the Siembra training on Wednesday night, who will be sharing action items with us soon.
- SMPC families received a guide for talking with children and youth.
