August 23, 2023Lindsey Odom Ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament
August 29, 2023A Message of Thanks from Our Friends at C.N. Jenkins Freedom School
Several SMPC members volunteered over the summer with the Freedom School, and C.N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church wanted to send its thanks for their service.
“Thank you to all of my friends from South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church who supported C.N. Jenkins Freedom School this summer through being a Harambee (Swahili for “Let’s pull together”) reader, a reading buddy and a Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) buddy. You made a difference in the lives of so many children,” said Doris Boyd, SMPC friend and member of CN Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Lindsey Odom Presented before Charlotte Presbytery
As part of her path to becoming an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament, Director of Youth Ministry and Missions/Outreach Lindsey Odom was presented before the Charlotte Presbytery last Saturday, August 19 at 9:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle. Thank you to all who have supported Lindsey with your love, presence and prayer. We look forward to her ordination service this Sunday, August 27 at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Everyone is welcome! Please plan to stay for the reception following the service. The service will also be livestreamed on our website!
Church + Cassie + Lemonade = the Best Sunday Morning
A Sunday morning at SMPC would not be complete without a visit with Cassie the Church Dog and a trip to lemonade and cookies! Thank you to SMPC member Meghan Stenvall for sending in these precious photos – the shoes! the bow! the smocked bubble! the cuteness! (We think Cassie might be a little jealous of her bow because rumor has it, she was asking Lindsey to book her a grooming appointment STAT! 😊)
SMPC Preschool Teachers Attend CPR Certification Training
There is so much that goes into getting a school ready for the year, one of the most important being CPR certification for the teachers! On Wednesday, August 23, SMPC Preschool teachers attended training conducted by Atrium Health. The preschool children return September 5 and September 6. We can’t wait to see those sweet smiling faces back on campus!
