December 13, 2024Advent Devotional: Third Sunday of Advent, December 15, 2024
December 15, 2024May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him; so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Illustrated by Caroline Angerer (Age 10)
Every year since I was seven, we have done Dashing Through the Glow at the beach. It is a Christmas lights fun run, a 2-mile glow in the dark extravaganza. You dress up in anything and everything Christmas and run/walk with your family. There is so much joy in the air as you see everyone dressed up and waiting to start the run, petting dogs, looking at the lights, and just being with family. As I’m walking with my family, all I can think about is the hot chocolate, games, and ginormous Christmas tree that awaits us at the end. Just as we await the birth of Jesus Christ, there is so much excitement leading up to the 25th so we do these little special traditions to make the time move faster. But not too fast, because time is precious, and you won’t want to waste it. When thinking back to Christmas, I will always remember this one weekend, and I hope that we will continue to do Dashing Through the Glow, just as we will continue to celebrate Jesus’ birthday every year. Celebrating these little traditions really brings the holiday spirit.
Dear God, thank you for all the wonderful things in our lives like our family and best of all the church family. Thank you for the love that we all spread during this season that makes waiting for your son just a little easier. Amen
