- Listen to a readaloud of the book Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts. The book is about a boy named Jeremy who desperately wants a pair of trendy shoes that everyone else at school has. However, his family can’t afford them. Over the course of the story, Jeremy learns about generosity, contentment, and what truly matters—kindness and caring for others. This is similar to what Jesus is teaching the people in today’s Gospel passage from Luke.
- Play a blessing game with your family. Sit in a circle with a ball or a stuffed animal that you can toss. As you toss it to another person, say something kind about them. Then they toss it to another person. Continue around the circle, making sure everyone has plenty of turns to bless and be blessed.

- What do you think Jesus meant when He said, “Blessed are the poor”?
- Why do you think Jesus says we are blessed when we help others?
