1. Words for Law: In Psalm 119, there are SIX different words that all mean the same thing: law, precept, ordinance, decree, commandment, and statute. See if you can find the definitions of each of these words. Why do you think the Psalmist used so many words to talk about how much he loved the law?
2. Light-My-Path Lantern Craft: Use a paper lunch bag or empty jar to make a simple lantern. Draw or write ways you can be a light in the world: helping a friend, speaking up for someone, showing kindness. Place a battery-operated candle or glow stick inside to remind you that God’s love can shine through you. Put your lantern somewhere you’ll see it during the week.
3. Read Aloud: When God Made Light: Listen to the beautiful book When God Made Light by Matthew Paul Turner here. This story celebrates how God made light in the world—and in you. As you listen, think about how your light shines in the way you love, laugh, create, and care for others.
4. Wonder Questions
a. I wonder what it means to be the light of the world
b. I wonder what makes your light shine
c. I wonder when it feels hard to shine your light
d. I wonder how your light can help someone else find their way
