- Have you ever seen someone’s face light up with joy? Maybe when they got really exciting news, saw a friend they hadn’t seen in a long time, or were just really happy? Their whole face seemed to shine! This is kind of like what happens with Moses in our Bible story today. Try this activity: Stand in front of a mirror and make different facial expressions—happy, excited, surprised. Notice how your face changes. Then, with a family member, take turns sharing good news and watch each other’s faces light up!
- Listen to a read-aloud of This Little Light of Mine illustrated by E.B. Lewis. The Children’s choirs sang a song today that included this familiar song. How can you let your light shine? What do the pictures in this version of the book teach you about letting your light shine?
- In the scripture passage, Moses covers his face with a veil. Make a self portrait using whatever you have around your house. After you finish, staple a piece of wax paper to the top of your portrait so that it acts like a “veil.” What do you think Moses was thinking and feeling? Why do you think he put a veil on his face?
- Journal, considering the following:
- How do you think Moses felt when he realized his face was shining?
- Why do you think the people were afraid when they saw him?
- How can we reflect God’s love and light to those around us?
- What is one way you can spend time with God this week so that God’s light shines through you?
