Updates on Pastoral Transition: June 11, 2025
June 12, 2025Church Family Moment for Sunday, June 22, 2025
June 18, 2025SMPC Note: Welcome to our weekly summer series, “Faces of Faith,” where we spotlight SMPC members and learn about how their faith and involvement in the church have impacted their lives. First up is SMPC member Jimmy Galati! Enjoy!
Name: Jimmy Galati
Family: Recently Sunday, May 11, was especially meaningful to my wife Kathy and me. It was Confirmation Sunday for our grandson, Nolan. We were blessed to share this milestone with his parents, Allison and Steven King, our daughter and son-in-law, who recently joined SMPC. Also present were our grandson, Brooks, our daughter Leigh, granddaughter, Josie, and Steven’s parents.
Years at SMPC: 14 years! We joined in May 2011
What are some ways you’ve found connection at SMPC? I think what’s been easy about making so many wonderful connections here at SMPC is that it doesn’t take much effort at all to do so. My wife, Kathy, and I were so blessed to meet so many people that welcomed us 14 years ago, and we try to do the same now. Just saying hello to someone or a smile can open the door to a great conversation. You get to know a little bit more about the person and build off that. There is always a way to give back at our church and the thing of it is you can go at your own pace. A little something here or there goes a long way in strengthening our church family. I can honestly say, you receive much more than you give. The overall kindness that exists here at SMPC is unbelievable! We are so grateful for that and the many friends that have came into our lives. So if you get a chance, put your toe in and join a committee, go to a luncheon and if you can hit a softball 300 feet, reach out to Coach Michael Choren and join our softball team. 🙂
How has being involved at SMPC helped you grow your faith? Being involved in SMPC has helped me grow so much as a person of faith. I’ve always been a believer and have tried to do the right thing my entire live. However, being a part of a church family like SMPC makes me strive to do more. Personally, it helps me almost stay organized in my faith. Not to say that I’m checking the boxes for showing up on Sunday, but that continuous love that exists here makes you more aware and conscious of how fragile life is. We all have had countless losses and worries, but there is something about being able to share those things with people that genuinely care about you when things go wrong and understand your pain. And on the flip side, there is also something so special in seeing that young child you spoke to years ago in the narthex now graduating from high school and celebrating their faith journey on Senior Sunday, or older friends aging so gracefully and continually growing in their faith that make me know that there is a God who is watching over us. How else would I have had been so lucky to have all these loved ones shown above in my life?
