- Read-Aloud: Dragon Was Terrible: Listen to the read-aloud here. In this silly and heartfelt story by Kelly DiPucchio, a dragon behaves terribly—but in the end, a kind story changes his heart. This reminds us of the story in Acts 16, where Paul and Silas show that no one is beyond God’s love. Even a jailer is transformed when he sees their faith and kindness in action. God can redeem anyone—just like the dragon.
- Game: Jailbreak Tag: Play a friendly game of “Jailbreak Tag.” Choose one person to be the jailer. Everyone else runs around. When the jailer tags someone, they must freeze in place with arms crossed. Another player can unfreeze them by tagging them and saying, “God’s love sets us free!”
- Craft: Breakable Chains: Create a paper chain using strips of paper. On each strip, write or draw something that can feel like a “chain” in life—worries, fears, unkindness, mistakes. Then tear the chain apart together to symbolize how God’s love breaks through what binds us and offers new life, joy, and freedom.
- Journal, considering the following:
- I wonder why Paul and Silas sang in jail.
- I wonder how the jailer felt when the prisoners were still there.
- I wonder what it means to be set free by God’s love.
- I wonder how we can share God’s love with people who feel stuck or forgotten.
