Church Family Moment for Sunday, January 12, 2025
January 7, 2025Seen Around Church: Week of January 5, 2024
January 8, 2025As we celebrate and focus on new possibilities, we are excited to offer a 4-week discussion based on Charlotte author and philanthropist Kathy Izard’s latest book, Trust the Whisper. It is a collection of extraordinary stories of people who paid attention to the inklings or “whispers” of their souls and took a leap of faith to help others.
Kathy listened to her own whispers, which she now recognizes as God’s quiet callings, and boldly co-led a $10 million campaign to build permanent housing for Charlotte’s chronically homeless. The result, Moore Place, opened in 2012 and offers housing and services to 120 formerly unhoused neighbors.
Join us beginning Sunday, January 12, at 9 a.m. for a 4-part conversation around Trust the Whisper. [to buy the book, click this link] *
Kathy Izard will inspire us with these stories at SMPC on Sunday, February 2, at 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Please invite friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to this FREE event, followed by a casual reception. Kathy will share her passion for helping others pay attention to their whispers and consider what God may be calling each of us to do. No need to have read the book in advance!
“If you are hearing a whisper that there is something more you are meant to be or meant to do, or that something amazing in your life is more than a coincidence, then these stories are for you. Let them be affirmation. Let them be signs you are on the right path. And even if you can’t quite see what’s ahead for you, let them light your way.” — Kathy Izard
Take the next step. Come and let’s discern together what the Holy Spirit is inviting us as individuals and as a faith community to do.
