July 26, 2023Heroes in Full Force at Vacation Bible School/Mission Possible
The biggest thing happening on campus this week has been Vacation Bible School and Mission Possible! We’ve had an absolute blast having 90 children in VBS, 25 youth in Mission Possible and 15 children and youth in the new extended day program. There has been a lot of singing, laughing, praying, serving and playing! This year’s theme is “Hero Hotline,” and there has an abundance of superheroes around here. The fun wraps up today (Thursday) – be on the lookout for a full wrap-up post and more photos to come next week!
In the meantime, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to Director of Spiritual Formation Rebecca Guzman, Director of Youth Ministry Lindsey Odom, Director of Music and Organist Zach Bowyer, VBS coordinators Libby Egan and Carla Jaynes and Mission Possible assistants Anna Verchnak and Sarah Graham and ALL of our youth and adult volunteers and everyone who contributed snacks and supplies. This week would not be possible without your creativity, passion and generosity. You are our superheroes!
Telugu Christian Fellowship Meets at SMPC for Worship, Fellowship
About 100 members of the Telugu Christian Fellowship of Charlotte met in Mecklenburg Hall on Saturday, July 22 for worship and fellowship. The group will meet a few more times on campus. We are blessed to have the opportunity to share our space with local community groups!
Faces of Faith: Collin Sinclair
SMPC Note: This summer we’ve launched a weekly series called “Faces of Faith” where we spotlight SMPC members and learn about how their faith and involvement in the church have impacted their lives. This week’s spotlight is on SMPC member Collin Sinclair.
Faces of Faith: Collin Sinclair
Name: Collin Sinclair
Family: My wife, Wendy, and daughters, Julianne (23) and Caroline (20). My mother, Anne Sinclair, is also a member of SMPC.
Years at SMPC: We have been members since 2007 (16 years) and joined shortly after moving to Charlotte from Richmond. Caroline was enrolled in SMPC Preschool, which helped us become familiar with the church.
Why do you love being a part of the Chancel Choir? I consider the choir to be my second family. It’s such a blessing to make music with this group and to fellowship with one another. Music is a vital part of worship for me and how I feel most connected to God. I began singing in church choirs as a child and always plan to be singing in some way. Being in the choir also allows me to see the Music Ministry evolve and grow under Zach’s leadership.
