August 5, 2025Campus Buzzed with Joy During VBS and Mission Possible!
By Director of Spiritual Formation Rebecca Guzman
VBS and Mission Possible Participants filled our campus with energy, laughter and learning last week! We had 124 VBS participants, 21 Mission Possible participants and 78 volunteers during four fun-filled days on the road with God at Road Trip VBS. Mission Possible participants shopped for school supplies for Smithfield, sorted canned goods at Nourish Up, sorted clothes at Crisis Assistance Ministries, and toured Promising Pages, supported by donations from our VBS families. Mission Possible donated 201.8 lbs of food to Nourish Up! VBS Participants had assembly, Bible story, music, recreation, science, and of course, snacks daily.
We’re so thankful for the children who feel at home on our campus and the many ways the congregation supports this impactful and important ministry.

Summer Organ Sidekick Fun at SMPC
We loved having our Summer Organ Sidekick, Will, at the organ during worship this past Sunday! This is one of our favorite summer traditions at SMPC. What a gift it is to share the love of music with our children, and, in turn, witness their joy in experiencing worship in a new way!
There is ONE spot left to be a Summer Organ Sidekick, Sunday, August 17. Sign up here.

Grandmother and Granddaughter Spend Time in Service
SMPC member Ruby Robinson and her granddaughter, Gracen, were Harambee readers at Freedom School Monday morning. What a wonderful way to give back to the community AND spend precious time together. Thank you to Ruby for sending us this photo of Gracen! We are sure the children loved your stories!
For Where Two or Three are Gathered in My Name
Dr. Matt Brown’s weekly Bible study had a packed house in the McQueen Room on Wednesday, July 30. This study, which discusses the Scripture for the week ahead, is held in person and via Zoom every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and welcomes all!

Scouts Enjoy a Week of Fun in the Sun at Sea Base
Twenty-four Scouts and adults spent a week in Sea Base, a Scouts camp in the Florida Keys, living on a sailboat. The group was split into three boats and had an absolute blast! We can’t think of a better way to spend a week of summer!
