Church Family Moment for Sunday, May 24, 2026
May 19, 2026News from our Shelter Ministry!
Our Shelter Ministry met last Thursday and filled 860 prescription vials with body wash for our neighbors at Roof Above! Wow!! They tell us they are in great need of body wash. Donations can be dropped off at the church office or during the next Shelter Ministry meetup, scheduled for Thursday, June 11, at 9:30 a.m. in Mecklenburg Hall.
We also recently shared an article on social media that Roof Above posted about Temple Beth El and SMPC coming together to help our neighbors in need! We are grateful to EVERYONE who participates in this ministry. We also want to give a big shoutout to our ministry leader, Carol Morgan, whose love and devotion to this ministry are unmatched. SMPC Serves with Neighborhood Food Pantry
On Sunday, May 17, SMPC learned more about the mission and purpose and served with Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need in their food pantry, sorting through food items that will be donated to our community. We also donated items to the pantry thanks to your generosity!
This 100% volunteer-run pantry provides food support to families across 11 Ballantyne neighborhood schools and has seen a significant increase in need over the past year. Schools they support include:
- Ardrey Kell High School
- Ballantyne Ridge High School
- Community House Middle School
- JM Robinson Middle School
- Rea Farms Elementary School
- Ballantyne Elementary School
- Elon Park Elementary School
- Endhaven Elementary School
- Hawk Ridge Elementary School
- Knights View Elementary School
- Polo Ridge Elementary School
- Cato Ridge Middle School (Opening Fall 2026)
We are honored to partner with this incredible organization and grateful to play a small part in helping meet real needs in our community. They do have an Amazon wishlist that they keep updated with up-to-date food needs and other needs and gets shipped directly to the pantry.
We look forward to serving again soon!
