November 6, 2024More Halloween Photos!
We promised more Halloween photos, so here they are! We love the SMPC Preschool Halloween Parade SO MUCH! And, this year the SMPC Dinosaur and a hippie met the children – both were a “roaring, groovy” hit with the preschoolers! 🙂
SMPC Hosts American Red Cross Blood Drive
SMPC hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive Saturday morning, November 2. We collected 24 total units of blood! The American Red Cross tells us the need for blood is great right now with the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton still being felt in Western North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. THANK YOU to all who came out to donate and/or volunteer at this month’s drive. We also thank this ministry’s coordinator, Bill Ramsey, for his dedication and hard work in making this blood drive a success!
Breaking news: SMPC is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, January 4, 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Commons. This is in addition to the four blood drives we already had scheduled for the year. The January 4 blood drive will mark the 66th blood drive hosted on our campus. To date, donors have provided 2,100 units of blood and blood products to the Red Cross.
Donating blood is a very tangible way you can help those affected by natural disasters! Please consider signing up to donate blood or volunteer at the drive.

SMPC Youth Meet for November BYG (Big Youth Group)
Our middle and high schoolers met for November BYG (Big Youth Group) on Sunday, November 3. They shared affirmations, played a beach ball game, enjoyed fellowship and food, and learned about God’s love and what it means to love others so that we can create a church that matches God’s vision for all of creation!! Thanks to everyone who came!! 💗

SMPC Sees Steady Stream of Voters on Election Day
We saw a steady number of visitors on Election Day. SMPC is the voting site for Mecklenburg County Precinct 232. SMPC Facilities Manager Steve Stevenson is also the precinct’s chief judge – is there anything Steve can’t do?!!? We think not!
‘Tis the Season! Children Begin Illustrations for SMPC’s Daily Advent Devotionals
One of our most beloved traditions at SMPC began on Tuesday, November 5! We had children visit us through the morning and lunchtime to begin illustrations for our daily Advent Devotionals. We also had a special furry guest, Molly Brown (Matt and Donna Brown’s fur-baby)! This project, coordinated by Terry Gaines, is one of our favorites of the holiday season. If your child was not able to make it in to draw and would like to participate, please contact Terry Gaines. To sign up to receive the Advent Devotionals daily beginning Sunday, December 1, please subscribe here. Please note: if you received the Advent Devotionals last year, you will automatically be subscribed this year! No need to re-subscribe.
