December 2, 2025SMPC Rings in the Advent Season for a Good Cause
Six hours of red kettle ringing for the Salvation Army on Saturday! SMPC volunteers brought the sunshine on a chilly day! Even if you’re not signed up to ring, we welcome you to stop by Belk at SouthPark Mall (Sharon Road parking deck entrance) the next three Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to cheer on our ringers and donate to the Salvation Army! There are still some spots open to ring – sign up here!

Sunday Snapshots!
We love these Sunday snapshots from the first Sunday of Advent! We had so many generous Angel Tree gifters that we added more to the list (make sure to scroll down)! Thank you!! And, two youth volunteers, Clara G. and Maddie R., gift-wrapped themselves to promote the SMPC Youth Gift Fundraiser on Sunday, December 21, 12:00-3:00 p.m. in Mecklenburg Hall. Simply drop off your gift and wrapping paper (or use the wrapping paper provided by the youth) and let our middle and high schoolers do the work! $5/package and all proceeds go toward offsetting the costs our youth summer retreats.

Welcome, Transitional Pastor Dr. Sandy Hull!
We are so excited to officially welcome Transitional Pastor Dr. Sandy Hull to SMPC! His first day in the office was Monday, December 1. His first Sunday in worship is this Sunday, December 7. Additionally, he began leading the Pastor’s Weekday Bible Study on Wednesday. This group meets weekly at 9:30 a.m. in the McQueen Room or Zoom. We hope you’ll join us in offering Sandy and his wife, Belinda, a warm SMPC welcome and keep Sandy, Belinda, and the SMPC congregation in your prayers as we begin this transitional time.
Sandy’s email is sandy@smpchome.org, and his direct line is 980-265-2834, 704-544-0404, ext 101.
Before Dr. Matt Brown retired, he and Sandy sat down for a light-hearted Q&A in the sanctuary. We are so grateful for the time, love and humor they brought to this special project. We hope you enjoy the video (and the lightning round!)
SMPC Staff Welcomes Sandy, Carb Loads for the Advent Season
SMPC staff welcomed Pastor Sandy to his first Tuesday staff meeting with the help of some very kind and generous “church ladies” who provided DELICIOUS Jeff’s Bagels with cream cheese and tasty butter. The carbs will come in handy because, let’s face it, the Advent Season is a marathon, not a sprint…and we love it!!
