October 8, 2026SMPC Gathers for World Communion Sunday
We were so blessed with a busy and beautiful Sunday! It was World Communion Sunday, and Rev. Lindsey Odom’s sermon reminded us that Christ is calling us to the table to “taste and be changed.” We are meant to offer the welcome of our communion table to all of God’s children! We celebrated a baptism, and our confirmands led our children through communion stations during Children’s Worship! The confirmands also went through the communion stations themselves and loved them. After worship, we shared delicious food and fellowship during Lunch on the Grounds. Thank you to Kathy Graham, our lead, and the many volunteers who made this lunch such a success!

New Organ Project Is Taking Shape
Tom Lewtak, owner, Lewtak Pipe Organ Builders, and his brother came for a brief visit Sunday after worship to take exact measurements for the new organ facade!! In case you missed the big news from the Music Ministry, SMPC is installing a 1953 Aeolian-Skinner Opus 1233 pipe organ - thanks to the generosity of our congregation! Read more about the instrument's history, how it found its new home at SMPC, and how you can get involved.

SMPC Youth Come Together to Learn and Serve
Our middle and high schoolers spent World Communion Sunday night at Big Youth Group (BYG) learning more about Jesus’ last Passover meal with his disciples and what it means for us to gather around the Lord’s Table.
And they put the call to love and serve others into action! Our youth helped prepare for SMPC’s October Nourish Up churchwide food drive by stapling tags onto bags that tell us which food items are needed. Of course, October BYG also included lots of fun and fellowship with games, icebreakers, and some competitive 9 Square to end the night!
Bags will be available in the narthex beginning this Sunday. We will be collecting food and essential items for Nourish Up until Sunday, November 1. Sign up here to help us load the truck on Tuesday, November 3!

Isn't It Lovely?
Room 302 recently got a makeover, and we are just in LOVE with it! We are so thankful to Kelly Hickman and ES Design Studio, Elite Staging and Design, for helping us design and procure the furniture and accessories in this room (at a significantly reduced cost!!).
"Whenever we have the opportunity to give pieces a second life while supporting a space where people can gather, connect and build community, we're happy to do so," said Hickman.
We can't wait to use this space for adult small group gatherings and more!
