Faces of Faith: Wimberley Earp

Name: Wimberley Earp

Family: Dave (married 19 years), Alexander (Rising 8th grader), and Reese (Rising 2nd grader)

Years at SMPC: 1.5 years

What brought you to SMPC? My husband, Dave, goes way back with Matt Brown (SMPC’s pastor) when Matt was associate pastor at Dave’s church growing up. When we got married, we were honored to have Matt marry us at our old church. When we moved to South Charlotte, we knew we wanted to live in this area and visit SMPC. And immediately we felt a connection with Matt’s sermons and with the youth and music programs. Additionally, my daughter went to the preschool for 4 years!

How have you found connection at SMPC? Everyone has been so welcoming! Nancy Metzler (director of hospitality and connections) met with us and led us toward opportunities of involvement. Having grown up in the choir, I knew I wanted to be a part of the incredible music program and when Zach Bowyer (director of music and organist) reached out, I took a leap. It’s been a huge blessing finding that connection again under his direction. My daughter loves the children’s programs, especially BAM! (Bible and Music), and I enjoy helping with the Vacation Bible School!
