August 7, 2024Vacation Bible School and Mission Possible Highlights are Here!
SMPC’s Vacation Bible School and Mission Possible were a blast! Our VBS participants spent the week learning more about the Bible through stories, music, art and play. Our Mission Possible youth spent the week in service. They shopped for school supplies for students at Smithfield Elementary School on Monday, served at Crisis Assistance Ministries on Tuesday and collected 82.70 pounds for the St. Giles food pantry before volunteering there on Wednesday. The youth then visited Promising Pages on Thursday where they learned more about why reading is an essential life skill, toured the organization’s facility and learned more about its mission.
We hope you enjoy this short video! We are so blessed to have such a vibrant community of children, youth and adults. Thank you to VBS leader Adrienne Jaquith and our many adult and youth volunteers!

SMPC Celebrates Pastor’s 20th Anniversary
We celebrated Dr. Matt Brown’s 20th anniversary of accepting the call to become SMPC pastor on Sunday, August 4 (his actual anniversary was Thursday, August 1!). We enjoyed punch, cake and fellowship after worship. “Grateful” doesn’t even begin to express how we feel about Matt and his wife, Donna! We are blessed with their guidance, dedication, knowledge and love. Thank you to the Hospitality Committee for hosting the fun reception!
