November 29, 2023SMPC 2023 Confirmands Connect During Retreat
The SMPC 2023 Confirmation Retreat was so much fun! Confirmands learned and grew in their faith, did team bonding activities at Sports Connection and served at Crisis Assistance Ministry.
The theme of SMPC’s 2023 Confirmation Retreat was “Connected, Confirmed, & Commissioned.” This theme helped confirmands develop a deeper understanding of themselves as God’s beloved children, who are created in the image of God, joined to the church at baptism and called and commissioned through the program of confirmation to live a life that increases good in the world.
A BIG thank you to our wonderful parent chaperones and drivers: Lisa Kuszmar, Jenny Estes, Susan Hicks, and Shelby Ullman and Associate Pastor of Youth and Missions/Outreach Lindsey Odom!
Our ‘Egg-cellent’ Volunteers Provide Breakfast for Center of Hope Guests
Our Center of Hope Breakfast volunteers were up early Saturday morning to serve breakfast for 300 guests! If you are nervous about cooking Thanksgiving dinner for your family, just think! This month’s volunteer team cracked 30 dozen eggs in one morning! We are so thankful for this month’s team (pictured below). They graciously posed for a picture on Sunday morning after worship.
A little background on our missions/outreach opportunities with Center of Hope: each month, SMPC provides breakfast for its guests. There are opportunities to donate breakfast items each month and drop them off at the church, or you can donate a monetary contribution anytime. Below you can find a list of items needed for next month’s breakfast. Thank you for your support!
SMPC Youth Gather for Small Group Dinners
SMPC Youth enjoyed small group dinners on Sunday, November 19. We are grateful for our young church members who show up for each other in faith and fellowship. Thank you to our small group dinner host families!
Gorgeous Sunday Morning Sets Us Up for a Week of Gratitude
After a beautiful worship service Sunday morning, including an incredible offertory song, The Lord Is Beautiful (Michael Burkhardt) by our Chancel Choir and Jubilate Choir with a solo by Blake R. (pictured below with his family) and Blythe Kinsey on piano, SMPC members enjoyed fellowship and sunshine outside. Pausing to reflect on Sunday during worship was the perfect way to prepare for a week of gratitude!
Look for New Goodies in Children’s Worship Bags to Enrich Faith in our Youngest Members
Children’s worship bags are getting a bit of a revamp! Look for some new items over the next few weeks. Remember, worship bags are for worshipers of all ages and are specifically geared for children who are staying in worship through the whole service.
