SMPC Walks to End Hunger
On Sunday, October 6, 33 walkers and 1 super cute church dog (Boone!) took part in the 2024 CROP Hunger Walk. We walked from the SMPC campus around Ballantyne to end hunger worldwide. Our team raised $3004, way over our $2500 goal! Thank you to all those who walked and who donated to raise awareness about hunger, food insecurity and poverty locally and globally through walking and/or donating to our CROP Hunger Walk team! You are making a difference in the lives of others.
There is still time to donate! Simply visit our team page and make a donation now until October 31, 2024.

Middle and High Schoolers Prep Bags to Fill for Nourish Up
During October’s BYG (Big Youth Group), our middle and high schoolers prepped bags for our church members to fill for Nourish Up (formerly Loaves and Fishes) Food Drive! Not only is Charlotte and the surrounding areas in a major food crisis, but Nourish Up is also working to assist its partners in Western North Carolina by bringing loads of non-perishables to them, as well as other items. Your donations will make a BIG impact on so many!
For over 15 years, SMPC has been collecting canned and dry goods for the Nourish Up food pantry. In that time, we have donated over 65,000 pounds of food for our neighbors who struggle with food insecurity. This year is no exception. Throughout October, SMPC will be collecting canned and dry goods for the food pantry. There is a MAJOR food insecurity crisis in Charlotte right now, so they NEED OUR HELP! The following is a list of items the pantry requests:
- Canned meat (tuna, chicken, salmon)
- Canned fruit (no sugar added or in juice)
- Canned vegetables (no salt added or low sodium)
- Pasta (canned or dry boxed)
- Whole grain cereals
- Beans (canned or dry)
- Peanut butter
- Rice
- Diapers and wipes
Please do not include any glass bottles or containers. The bags will be available to pick up outside the sanctuary this Sunday, October 13 and Sunday, October 20. Please place your donations of non-perishable food items in these bags and return to the church by Sunday, October 27. Financial donations are also accepted. Please make checks payable to SMPC & indicate “Nourish Up” in the memo line. Please deliver to the church office or in the offering plate.
