SMPC Note: As part of our 2025 Operating Fund Campaign, Live Into Hope, we are highlighting four members’ experiences at SMPC as they live into the hope of God’s mercy and love at SMPC. We’ll share video and the transcripts each week. We hope you enjoy this series, Reflections of Hope, and consider making a pledge as we embrace the hope that flows from God’s grace, inspiring our collective efforts as a faith community.
Reflections of Hope: David Wooley, Sunday, October 20, 2024
Good morning, everyone!
My name is David Wooley, and today I am honored to share a profound and uplifting message with you: “Grasp the Immensity of this Glorious Way of Life He Has for His Followers.”
In these challenging and often contentious times, I invite you to pause and reflect on the wonderful gifts in your life. How often do we truly acknowledge the blessings we receive each day?
Here at SMPC, we witness a variety of callings, missions, and ministries—not just on Sundays, but every day. Each day presents opportunities to serve and support our community.
My family and I have been members of SMPC for nearly a decade, and we have cherished many ways to connect and give back. As an Elder, I have seen firsthand the incredible dedication and effort our church puts forth to be not just a place of worship, but a beacon in our community and beyond. My wife Kari, our two children, and I remain active in outreach programs. One of the most important lessons we can impart to our children is the value of giving back, and SMPC offers many opportunities to do just that.
Whether you join us in a packed pew with multiple generations or come alone, whether you immerse yourself in fellowship opportunities or quietly sit in prayer and reflection during worship—there is a place for you at SMPC. I believe this is God’s way of leading you to your calling, wherever you are and whatever that might be.
In an imperfect world, God allows us to be who we are because we know whose we are.
As Lisa mentioned last week, all the wonderful support we offer—both within and outside the walls of this church—requires financial support. I ask you to prayerfully consider the glorious ways SMPC has impacted your life—in mission, community, message, and more—as you make a commitment to this year’s “Live into Hope” campaign.
Please be sure to fill out your pledges, either on the commitment cards or online, by next Sunday, October 27th. While it’s hard to fully understand God’s ways and His incredible gifts, everyone’s contributions help continue all callings—great and small!
With your support, we can continue offering ministries and spreading the immense joy and love of God—not just for our congregants, but for our community and beyond.
Thank you for being part of the SMPC family, and thank you for your pledges!
